DIP - polishing cloths

DIP polishing cloths DIP is the abbreviation of diamond-impregnated polishing cloth (self-adhesive), into which by means of a special process high-quality, closely-specified diamond grains have been embedded. Available dimensions are : 200 mm - 250mm and 300mm diameter. Upon request also available for magnetic systems.

After the DIP has been adhered to a carrier-disc, the addition of a lubricant is sufficient in order to activate the cloth. The uniform spread of the diamond grains enables the achievement of a highly abrasive performance. These cloths are especially suited to hard materials such as ferrous metals, ceramics and tempered metals.
The most popular grain sizes are: 1, 3 and 6 micron

The DIP cloths are distinguished by their long service-life and short polishing times. Should the abrasive performance diminish due to excessive deposits on the cloth, the deposits may be removed from the cloth by means of a hard brush under running water and the cloth then re-impregnated (see below). The diamond grains remain adhered to the fibres of the cloth such that they are not washed out!

DIP-Fluid-Plus - Diamond Concentrate

DIP-Fluid-Plus Should the cloth's abrasive performance after a lengthy period of use no longer be adequate, the cloth may be re-impregnated by the application of DIP-Fluid-Plus.
In order to do this the cloth must be cleaned as described above. Following this, a small amount of DIP-Fluid-Plus is dropped onto the cloth whilst the polishing disk is in operation. Just a few drops of this diamond concentrate suffice to restore the cutting effect to the impregnated diamond grains.

The highly concentrated DIP-Fluid-Plus can however also be used just like a normal diamond suspension.

The advantages of the DIP-polishing cloths when used together with DIP-Fluid-Plus are as follows

  • DIP reduces polishing times
  • DIP can be used on all materials
  • DIP can be easily cleaned using water and a brush
  • DIP reduces costs due its long service life
